If the work place is a spectrum – neither extreme is good. On one side: people “working hard” and logging ridiculous hours for little pay hoping to be recognized by senior management. On the other side: people hoping that they can work under 20hrs / week, with benefits, while remote, with an annual income in excess of $200k (non-tech/pharma/finance jobs).
I think both extremes are wrong but lately this sub is really moving to the latter. The reason I ask whether employers even follow this sub anymore is due to this fact. I employ 22 people via gov’t funds and other public income and do my best to promote a healthy work environment – no clock watching and positive reinforcement. However, what I’ve been reading recently is discouraging. Am I alone? I feel good employers are trying their best but both millennials and Gen Z are secretly hoping to get double pay for less work within the year… while costs of doing business skyrocket. I’m 37 and know cost of living is extreme but I can’t pay everyone what the private market pays due to budget constraints
