Severance and surprise termination

I was told earlier that my company will no longer employ me (not a firing, not exactly a layoff, not performance-based). I suspect they got what they needed from me (I was hired to unfuck an absolute mess of a PMO), and felt they could keep it aloft themselves without me. The reason I’m turning to this group is that I’m asking for more than the two weeks’ pay in severance that they’re offering. I’m told it’s company policy, but when I was interviewing, I was told, in writing, that there was no policy, and that the company tries to do right by its employees in the event of a termination. I haven’t signed the termination letter, but don’t know what to do from here.
