Sharing resignation letter- burnt out nurse

I finally did the right thing for myself and family by quitting a toxic nursing job (basically all nowadays). I'm so burnt out that I couldn't stray another day at the job. 14 years of progressively worsening work conditions is all I have experienced in my nursing career. And honestly, when nurses are fired they get escorted from the building. So why give them the luxury of notice when they can't even provide a safe work environment? I'll post my resignation letter without any identifiers for others to see or get inspiration from. 10-27-2022 Mrs. Manager Department Manager Dear Manager, Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation effective immediately from my position as a department nurse. Mrs. Manager

Department Manager

Dear Manager,

Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation effective immediately from my position as a department nurse. The role of a nurse is no longer sustainable for myself and my family. Nursing in the current healthcare environment is too detrimental to my mental and physical well-being for me to continue in the role.

I no longer have the fortitude to deal with chronic understaffing, no chance for breaks, lateral violence, chronically abusive physicians, and chronically abusive patient populations. As well as other systemic problems in healthcare. Nurses care for everyone, but their own suffering falls on deaf ears. I need to be my own advocate now and leave the source of such deep unhappiness and pain in my life.

I do appreciate the opportunity to have worked with everyone in the department.

Sincerely,

Me
