Should I have quit? Company hired me for one job, but told me i was going to be a different job temporarily on my first day because someone else quit the week before.

I showed up on Monday to work for a company that test aerospace parts. It is a trainee position. I show up and they told me I wasn’t going to be doing NDT training. Apparently their shipping and receiving person quit on Friday so they told me I had to do that in the meantime. They have no timeframe for how long it was going to be until they hired someone other than “I had to be patient. It is temporary and we’ll get you to PT eventually.” I was collecting unemployment for the beginning part of this year then go a job in manufacturing and quit it after 4 weeks because it sucked.
