Should I Pursue a Claim? (OH)

Back in 2019-2020 I was working for a small coffee shop. We were paid an hourly wage, and we were allowed to keep cash tips. My boss would keep the credit card tips for “the business” and we did not report our cash tips for tax purposes. I have text proof she did this. I ended up losing close to $800-$1000 before taxes. I was 16-17 years old at the time, and am currently 19 – still in the statute of limitations as I was a minor when the theft occurred. Should I pursue a claim in small claims court? I notified other coworkers of the theft, but they didn’t want to pursue action as she gave us free food, let us host our grad parties there, and took us on a TopGolf Christmas party. I have moved on to a better company now but am still questioning the right thing to do – please advise. I’ve already talked to a lawyer through my college and he said I was out of the statute of limitations, but he wasn’t a very good attorney. I just feel like justice needs to be served, and I have a righteous anger against her. I’m currently a business student and have told professors about the experience, with their response as: “that’s bullshit.” However, I have looked at wage laws, and there is a possibility that this became illegal on April 30, 2021, the week she gave employees their credit card tips. So I may have no recourse unfortunately.
