I have been with this company 4 years and recently dealt with a merger that made everything unbearable, on top of that I just got a new manager who has a superiority complex and i simply will not deal with it. I have a job lined up already, same pay, work from home, benefits, etc. Way better in every way. But it doesn’t start until June 6th.
I’m the manager at my location, I work alone 6x a week, 8+ hours a day. I fill in my other employees when they ask as they have full time jobs. I have 4 employees that have stressed they do not want to move up and have even said they were planning to leave when I do. The company is extremely short staffed and I’m not sure how they will cover my store.
I was thinking of working up until the 21st (the last day of the pay period) and quitting right away, giving me the last paycheck to pay next month’s rent and also giving me a week in between to take a break before starting a new job.
I’m scared to put in my two weeks because of the retaliation I may endure, but it might be a chance for them to find someone in my place. I just don’t think they deserve the respect after what they do to our employees and how the new management is treating us.
On top of that, I’m not sure if they can hold my last check or what exactly they can do, it’s kind of scaring me.
So now I’m confused as I’ve never had to put my two weeks in anywhere. What do I do?
