I work for a non-profit currently. I love my job – it’s fulfilling work, but I don’t make enough to rent an apartment on my own, so I’m currently living at home with my father. I got a message on LinkedIn from a large company’s HR person saying that they have heard good things about my work, and are requesting I reach out to discuss a position with them. I haven’t yet reached out – I need Reddit’s help!
A bit of background:
I started with my current non-profit company in September 2021 on a 2-month grant position. I showed such an ROI that they promoted me to a full-time permanent position – which hasn’t happened before at this company. Around Christmas, we got bonuses in cash – and my boss told me that it had never happened before, so I “must be doing something right.”
Fast forward to this week, I got another bonus. This one was just because I’ve been doing such a great job recently – I don’t think anyone else received a bonus. The CEO of our nonprofit (my grand boss) hand delivered this bonus in cash to me, and mentioned that raises will be discussed around the end of summertime.
All this to say is why I love my company: on top of being able to WFH, I get along with everyone, I never have too much work on my plate, etc.
Should I reach out and see what’s on the table? How would I even begin that conversation? Should I mention this position ‘offer’ to my current boss, in the hopes it will increase my pay come summertime? Help!
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!
