Basically, I agreed to join a restuarant venture that my friend is newly managing until the new year, despite stopping working as a cook because of the bullshit you have to deal with in the hospitality industry.
Before joining I made it very clear that I am burnout-prone and while I can manage 4 open-close shifts per week to support the business, I need my time off to recharge. I made it clear that a burnout is a mutual loss since I have come in specifically to be the head cook's right hand man and cover leading shifts so he doesn't have to work every day, but that I simply can't manage more than 40 hours consecutively.
Tomorrow will be the second day in a row that I have been told I'll finally get a day off after pushing through what was 7 consecutive open-close shifts that I've been asked to work a “half day” (7-8 hours).
At the same time I also have the opportunity to move to some (shitty and unstimulating) work immediately that would give me a guaranteed mon-fri 40 hours a week, for similar pay, but with no sense of responsibility.
My quandary here is that the work i currently have is only until xmas, and I agreed to do it to help out a friend I think highly of, but has turned out to be a crappy manager.
Ethically, am I in the wrong to tell him tomorrow that I'm sorry, but I have a better offer and will be quitting immediately or should I stick it out for the rest of the week.
TLDR: AITA for quitting immediately from a job a friend gave me/is the manager for if I have the opportunity for something less stressful
