Should it be illegal to micromanage attendance with point systems?

I've struggled with holding down jobs in the past due to chronic health reasons. These were at jobs that would strike a demerit against you every time you're out sick.. some companies like Amazon have a policy of 4 points in 90 days, you're out. I did IT for a company as a contractor that considered “incidents” and approved PTO the same. They gave you 10, and if you called out it would deduct one, and if you had approved days off for vacation, family, etc whatever they would deduce those days off as well. You would have 10 in an entire year to use, and if you went over that you are fired. Lots of people who have children to pickup, or are having a child have these issues too. I think that this system is brutally unfair and should be illegal. We are not in school. Companies will find any excuse they can to give you little to no benefits and avoid paying for you if you have a family, kids or a chronic illness. I think this should be federally mandated in a way.
