So I have noticed a trend over the past year or so with companies not observing Juneteenth. I understand it's a courtesy and the holiday is new and it's hard to fit that within a company's budget but I feel like that has been an excuse for a while.
Not only is it a Federal holiday but in Virginia it's a state holiday. Yet my employer in VA is not recognizing it as a day off.
My last company based in DC didn't recognize it as well. My issue isn't the day off , but these companies going out of there way not to update is beyond annoying. The DC company sent out an email saying “While we recognize the contributions of the African American community…blah..blah… you still need to work …blah …blah..”
Is your company not letting you off?
