I just did a big shop at target and got dinner at panda express afterwards, and it was so busy and chaotic, with customers being hectic (and few wearing masks – some openly coughing at the cash register ) – and I just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you to the workers here (I of course thanked em in person too).
It can be so demanding and demoralizing, I know (I’ve been there!), and I know too that a lot of what makes it worthwhile is good people, whether it be coworkers or customers. I read the stories on here daily, and it reminds me to never lose sight of what’s important, and that every worker has a life and worth beyond our quick interactions at the store.
I know that there’s a whole mix of jobs and experiences in the community here, but wanted to offer an extra shout out to all of the retail and food service workers this crazy holiday season in particular, to remind you that you have inherent worth that no one can take away, that even the rudest customers can’t change that you are a valuable person and deserve care, a living wage, safety, and security.
Just an extra moment of gratitude and appreciation.
