Showed up and the doors were locked

I started working at Dollar Tree about a month ago. We're incredibly short staffed, and the staff we do have (including the manager) are all new. On Saturday we had some issues with the tills, and ended up having to close the store for nearly an hour. Yesterday I was scheduled to work at 3. I got there and the doors were locked. I tried calling the store several times and got no answer. I waited around for around 20 minutes and then went home. It is now the next morning, and I haven't heard from anyone. I am wondering if I am in the wrong here? What should I have done? I'm just scared that my manager is going to be mad at me, or that I did something wrong. I don't think I'll be fired, considering we are so short staffed, but who knows. Is what I did a fireable (sp?) offense?
What would you have done if you were me?
