So recently, I requested off 3 days and was approved to use my sick time. I didn’t tell them what it was for, But I had to go visit some family. It was approved by a woman in HR who was filling in as our boss while we were in between hires (previous boss quit and we didn’t have a new one yet). Of course, payday comes and I didn’t get paid for it. I asked the new boss about it, and she told me she isn’t allowed to use sick days unless it’s for “medical reasons”. Is this true? It’s funny because I had requested Halloween off (I work evenings and it was my sons first Halloween). And they gave it to me no questions asked with sick pay. Wondering if there’s New York laws about this? I probably won’t get paid.
