I was just required to waste an hour on a conference call with a senior executive. He delivered the good news that we are getting “merit” raises this year. Anyone who is proficient at their work metrics is getting a 3% raise.
But hold on…
My overall rating for last year puts me as exceeding expectations, not just proficient. My manager’s response? “We appreciate all your hard work, but everyone will receive the same raise.”
Literally zero incentive to do more than the bare minimum. Management has no idea what merit means. 3rd time in 5 years this has happened. I’m done.
