This happened before Covid during holiday oct – dec season, I worked in a clothing store called Burlington for a seasonal job. Before that to get any other clothing job was hilarious (Macy's, Khol's, etc) they really didn't want to hire men even if they needed help due to biased female managers mostly (It's was all female managers from what I saw). If you got into a interview they would make it a group interview thing which was beyond trash (If you're in management and read this, why would you do that? It's awkward and clearly upsets the people who are applying). Legit I was in one and saw some college 23 year old + black guys team up against me just so one of them could get the job in one group interview, pretty funny tbh and sad. Dudes really be trying to backstab each other for a 10+ an hour job.
So onto the story, when I got the job in Burlington. On a certain day, I was paired up with this felon to maintain the suit + shoe aisle, he was a strict type of guy was 30+ and would do exactly everything he was told. He would even force me to work faster, and not bs it (such as putting coats on top of the hangers because I didn't know where to put them). It wasn't easy at all since the place would feel like a tornado hit the store and doing this constantly while being told to go to cashiers because there was a huge line didn't help. Half way through the day he started getting mad at me saying “Are you serious?”, like idk why this dude was acting surprise it would just end up getting all scrambled again until we closed so what's the point of sorting it now? He got so mad that he complained to my manager who was a 60+ year old very large woman, she said “(Insert Name), you gotta put all your effort you have with us, we're your family and be like your panther here so you can be employee of the month”(a whooping $50 burlington gift card). So we didn't talk to each other for the rest of time, I remember this because I don't get why people don't do the bare minimum for minimum wage getting into fights rather us than being chill with each other knowing that we're both getting screwed by wages. The female security guard knew what was up, she literally was the female version of Stanley from The Office.
PS: I was given $9 an hour how Burlington is going backwards to 8.50 is actually criminal, maybe it's so they can undermine the pay of visa immigrant workers. UPS does the same BS too (they slash wages). It happens all the time, especially in casino states behind closed doors.
