I finally decided to quit my side hustle at a Bulgarian mill 6 months after I started working for them as a freelance contractor. I initially received two full months of paid training that only served to mask what the actual job would be like and then when I was finally “ready” to start, I found out that they expect a team of remote freelancers to churn out complex reports that comply with their crazy criteria in under 5 hours. You actually had to talk to your supervisor if you wanted your lunch break so they would extend the deadline by an hour. I was literally expected to actually work 7 hours a day under a freelance contract when I was offered no perks (plus I had to pay my own tax and bank transfer fee each month). The most ridiculous part is they had an “attractive bonus scheme” where you get an extra 200 bucks a month if the person checking your reports decided they were good enough (they actually graded them) and they basically nitpick (misplaced commas y'all) so we wouldn't actually receive the bonus! The only way I can describe this company is Soviet. The fact that they can impose such horrendous work conditions on workers on behalf of a UK company that ships jobs to eastern Europe is just disgusting. End of rant.
