So many scams on job websites, how to know what’s legitimate?

Got contacted via text to join a Microsoft Teams chat with “Plaid”. I have found the hiring manager on LinkedIn but I’m scared to proceed with giving personal information over basically instant messaging. Doesn’t feel right. Should I just shut it down? It was for a remote data entry position.
