Two weeks ago my employer gave us a WARN notice due to a possible layoff. The company might be closing unless there's a buyer. We're everywhere on local social media. News reporters and journalists have come to our town to talk about the company potentially closing and the impact that it's going to have in our community. Our state governor is aware, senators are aware, as well as representatives of other state organizations. I can't go to the gas station without having the cashier ask me about the company. It's weird to have this kind of attention and especially for something so sad. It's almost depressing to have to show to work and to still be working on upcoming projects. Upper management is based on another country and to some degree we feel neglected. I really really want to post the articles that have been writing about us, but I fear retaliation. A lot of us were promised a lot of things, like promotions and migratory aid, and all of sudden it all came to an end. I just wanted to get this out of my chest, but it's really hard. Some days I am fine, but other days I end up crying in front of my coworkers. It just feels like I am in the Twilight zone.
