So my work is going to be forced to close for NewYears Day

The higher ups at my job decided that their grocery store would be open every day of the year. Which I guess is fine. Which leads us to the fun bit The Holidays. In my country we celebrate christmas over 2.5 days. Christmas eve, 1st Christmas day, and second Christmas day. Then a few days later its New years day. All these holidays are officially recognized as holidays, so in our contract it states that you get them off if you are a fulltime employee. Also fine I guess.

The fun part comes now, as a lot of parttimers have quit or are demanding a day off. Good for them.
I choose to work over Christmas, as I never really celebrated it anyway AND its time-and-a-half.

The annoying part is that now the boss is threatening to just put people on the schedule for these Holidays, as his boss wont let him close the store.

So now there is this awkward tension where no one wants to be put on schedule, and thus is trying to not stand out. We should be hearing who are put on the schedule wednesday or thursday. I am expecting a mutiny.

I already spoke to some collegues who said that they will refuse to show up.
So we will see.

Higher management is stupid tho. There will be barely anyone shopping on NewYears day.
