So for the past 11 years I have been working on designing and implementing automated metering infrastructure for multiple state and government departments. This involves having data gathering equipment reading meters for electric, gas, steam, water, heat etc, and this information goes back to a platform where you can create baselines and see energy usage throughout the year. This is all to be used to see where energy deficiencies are, and where these departments should spend their funds to make their facilities more green/energy efficient. And I was just told that in the past 11 years, a total of three people have looked at the information, and at that maybe two or three times. The amount of money that these departments have wasted on thousands of installations, and are wasting by not using this information is appalling. But personally, it hurts. All this time I’ve been working on these projects, thinking that all my long hours and stress will at least help the environment, and it was all just bs, spending of tax payers money.
