This happened many moons ago, so not looking for advice. Just sharing a story.
I worked as a lead server at a certain colored bird (YUMMM). One day the managers were notified that higher ups would be coming through in a month to run a cleanliness check on the restaurant. GM calls a meeting to notify the staff that everyone has to come in/stay after close to detail the restaurant. They openly state that their bonuses will be effected by this and spewed some team player bullshit. We're then told that we can't clock in, but will be compensated with a pizza party(little Caesars at that). After the meeting I told them that I wouldn't be attending and if they had a problem that we could discuss it with my lawyer (helps having lawyers in the family). After this interaction my hours dropped from 35+ in 6 shifts to 15 hours in 11 shifts. The most shocking part is at least 90 % of the hourly employees happily went in.
management in the restaurant industry are some of the most toxic parasites on this planet.
