Someone who has been with the company a year less than me is now making 10k more a year than me, how do I respond when they ask me to do their work?

I was hired into the company as a manager, they were hired as an assistant in a different department. I’m not only a year senior to them but I have more management experience than them. They were recently promoted to manager for their department, similar base responsibilities as me, but they’re making $5 more an hour. I’m hourly and they are now salary. They make more money because they are a “yes” person, I am not. If they’re going to be a yes person and then ask for my help when they’re in over their head that seems silly.

My bosses want me to be more of a “yes” person but I’m not saying yes to taking on work from someone who is now more privileged in their role.

So, how do I respond when they ask for my help without making myself look bad?
