Something I don’t understand is why company CEOs’/executives’ favorite employee is always the Head of HR. Like…what’s so great about the Head of HR that makes them get the most praise? Anyone know?

And the rest of the HR folks, generally, too. They all get sucked off by the CEO. (Eg “Karen, I’m SOOOOOO thankful for you! Omg you’re the best! I’m nothing without your help!”) This seems to attract a lot of grovelers and talentless power-seekers to the HR industry.
