Sometimes a compensation increase, isn’t always the answer.

I applied for a major insurance company and was hired on. I’ve been fully remote since March 2020, and swore I would never return to an office. Insurance can 10000000% be done at home. The company offered me an increase in pay, AFTER they took five days, to decide whether or not, I would have to surrender my license and take the property and casualty test AGAIN, under this company. I KNEW it made no sense but the recruiter kept telling me that is “___ company way”! I have friends who work for this carrier, and told me the recruiter is wrong and that my license can just be transferred. After a week, the licensing team confirmed what I already knew and then the recruiter said “I can offer you more money to come here”. To return to an office setting, at 7:15 in the morning, an hour from my home, and a call center situation with Pennie’s of PTO and the same call center statement of “while the company recognizes __ holidays, our department is a 24/7 operation and our customers need us in their time of need.” More than my family does, Linda? I’m already in a call center situation again (this company lied to me to get me here as well), but I’m in my own home, and I own my own dang claims. The increase in pay, wasn’t enough to make me say “yes”… the debacle over my license made me sit back and wonder what it’s REALLY like, working for this carrier and it just wasn’t enough for me. So this is my Sunday night, decline of their offer. My recruiter can blame herself. On top of that, I NEVER spoke to a hiring manager, I was forced to do an assessment and a ONE sided video interview. HARD PASS! I’ll stay remote in my home, sitting in front of my computers and laptop with my hair in a messy bun walking around my house raiding my fridge, with my wireless headset on, asking my customer what happened in their auto accident. 🤪
