Splitting up schedule to avoid paying ot

I’m going to try and articulate this but I struggle with that so bear with me here please. Basically I am working 4/12s concurrently and since that comes to 48 hours in 4 days assumed I would be paid over time right? Wrong! I was informed that they will line up to fall on the day the pay period Starts over meaning half on this check half on next check and of course not paying ot. I’m sure this is a legal loophole companies use but it just seems to so grossly take advantage of employees.
