Started a new gig last month, was lied to about just every factor of the position. Was also lied that they were hiring more people for my team.I'm a fully remote IT systems engineer who's working for a startup, no team members.I'm doing 6 levels of engineering right now including support for 350+ end users over 4 time zones.I created a list of jobs that I am currently being tasked with doing. Here's my current list, now remember it's only been one month at this new job.

  1. Implementation Engineer
  2. SaaS integration expert
  3. Cloud Engineer (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  4. Endpoint Management, supposed to implement multiple MDM tools for Mac OS and Windows side of house. Current implementation scope is Azure AD, Kandji, Intune and Office 365
  5. Security Engineer and zero day mitigation expert
  6. Okta workflows and API engineer
  7. Onboarding specialist, supposed to take care of al the new hires onboarding needs and work with HR to assist all new hires on their day to day operations
  8. Support specialist, this includes L1, L2, L3, L4, and all other escalations as there's no one above me or below me to handle any of the incoming requests.
  9. Network Engineer, monitor and maintain the VPN infrastructure and endpoint agents for the VPN tool, this includes updating the tool through scripting bash commands on Kandji when I somehow manage to get it implemented in our environment
  10. Salesforce specialist, supposed to monitor, integrate and maintain our salesforce tenant, this includes creating new enforcement policies and integrating the platform into Okta
  11. Automationa nd Infrastructure Engineer (terraform which we haven't implemented yet, it's my job to implement the tool and create all the terraform registries that we will be leveraging for our entire fleet of instance and services that we host in multiple AWS regions)
  12. Project Management – responsible for maintaining 5 Jira boards across 3 separate teams, this includes DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering and Support.
  13. Lifecycle management – manage and maintain all of our licensing across 40+ different platforms that we use.
  14. DevOps Engineer – all infrastructure as code, terraform, loud balancers, everything.

So basically I'm responsible for data infrastructure, our cloud instances over 3 separate cloud platforms, multiple IDP tools, HR tools, Business tools, our networking infrastructure both onsite, endpoint agents, and the aviatrix gateway itself that's hosted in AWS.I've asked six times in one month about what the status is of the other Engineers that the CTO told me he was in the process of hiring when I was interviewing. I specifically stated in my interview that I did not want to be a one man shop and didn't want to silo'd in my day to day work and needed a team to bounce ideas off of. Every time I bring it up he ignores my question, he literally doesn't even acknowledge it.

And then all these fucking companies don't understand why no one wants to work anymore? Corporate world is such a fucking joke.
