Started my sales journey today with my first day solo. Nice of my managers to schedule my door meetings to all privately Gated communities a state away from my home.

So I recently started a security sales gig and today was my first day doing solo sales. No pressure to get one since it's day one is what the manager said, awesome. My leads place me in the next STATE above mine. Not City nearby the office, nope heading up to another state to get these security sales. All well and good, the commissions will pay for the gas and then some, right? Well yeah you would assume that, but that's only if you can actually meet your customers. In this state their are many private Gated communities in this well off coastal city. To which I can't access being a lowly sales guy without either having known someone that can let me in, or paying some kind of visitors access fee, which my employer told me to disregard.

That's all well and good, but 70% of my leads were in Gated communities today. And they expect to you to stay out until at least 8:30pm, so I got to drive around to the houses that had no one home at first visit or didn't upright tell me to fuck off at the door, which amounted to all of 3 or 4 houses.

So I drove around this state for five hours following leads that only lead to more Gated communities.

Had to throw $30 in my tank (that won't be reimbursed because of the SOOO lucrative commissions) so I could just make it home, even though I haven't been paid by this company yet.

So yeah, I'm a little pissed off to say the least, especially since we're in a mandatory group chat and I get to see all the success that my coworkers and folks around the nation are having while I don't even have a chance to give a pitch.

How was your day?
