Starting a new job in a month and my current boss decided to put my desk in the kitchen area for the time being. Possible advice?

First want to say so sorry if this is in the wrong place as I was not sure where to share this with to get advice. For background, I’ve already handed my resignation notice and since then I’ve been dealing with a lot of back-handed retaliation/side comments from my supervisor ever since. No surprise. But regardless of that, they’ve now informed me that they are hiring a new person as my replacement and so they will be giving her my office desk and will be moving me to a makeshift desk in the kitchen/common area to work in until the end of the month. This is a full time salaried office job that I am working at a well known company. Is this legal? I was honestly taken aback and did not give a response as I couldn’t process this new information. No surprise.

This is a full time salaried office job that I am working at a well known company. Is this legal? I was honestly taken aback and did not give a response as I couldn’t process this new information. This “desk space” they’re making will have some makeshift cubicle style walls but still fully open in the kitchen area. Barely any privacy as people are constantly going into the kitchen and using the different items in the kitchen (microwave, fridge, toaster oven, coffee maker, sink, etc.) Going off of that, many people are often reheating and cooking up food throughout the day so food smell is something important.

I work a hybrid job both in person and remote already on certain days so I asked if I can just work and train the person in person certain days and remotely on others due to this new desk space situation. I was immediately rejected. This just seems extremely unprofessional and weird. Are there any talking points I can bring up or is there anything that protects people from working in these kinds of places?
