Antiwork

starting a new job soon, admittedly nervous but still excited, could use some advice perhaps?

Hey antiwork! So I was recently offered a position at a unionized laundry facility. 17.65 an hour, going up to 18.30 next year, 50 hours a week, 5 days a week. I'm relieved to have found work (I posted here a bit ago about how frustrated I was at being constantly turned down), surprised to see it's unionized, but also nervous about some aspects – very likely related to how awful my last job was. So if I may, I'd like some advice on if what I'm thinking about is rude or if I'm overthinking it due to lingering job anxiety from my last place. should I be worried about ridiculous shift streaks and last minute call ins? I remember my last job where I would be called in last minute constantly and where some of my coworkers would be working 9 days in a row with sometimes 17 hour…

  • should I be worried about ridiculous shift streaks and last minute call ins? I remember my last job where I would be called in last minute constantly and where some of my coworkers would be working 9 days in a row with sometimes 17 hour double shifts because of shoetstaffing issues (low wage, abusive coworkers, apathetic bosses tend to do that)

  • would it be rude of me to very gently request that if a 4/10 option opens up in the future, I'd want to do that? I don't mind working the full 450 hours so long as the job doesn't wear me down too much, but a 4/10 schedule would be incredible for my own personal work/life balance desires

Those are really the main two questions I had, I may edit this post if I think of more stuff.
