My wife is a big fan of the comedian Sebastian maniscalco and I took her tonight to see him perform live. He was making a joke about how service in restaurants is poor because the people who are working are “scabs” and the real employees are at home “collecting checks”. The crowd laughed and cheered. I’m writing this hours after the show has ended and I still feel the anger and disgust that I felt after he immediately told this “joke”. I’m trying to hold back tears. What he said is such complete bullshit and people believe it. I hate that people are being fed such lies. Funny enough I was also having a conversation with my friend earlier today and he said that he wouldn’t be surprised if his wages 20-30 years from now were the same as they are now. Everything thinks people are just lazy and don’t want to work when they get paid shit wages. It makes me so angry.
