So I worked in this job for a little over 6 years, it was just the boss and I. In the last few years they'd had some home life trouble which lead to me doing 80-90% of the work and basically running the entire business minus a few phone calls. I was underpaid compared to others in my field, doing more work, longer hours I was never paid for etc. So eventually I decided I was leaving and I finished up at the end of December 2022. In Feb 2022 I had 8 weeks of holidays owing (which still seemed low but I didn't get pay slips so didn't keep track), by December when I left I was paid out only 2 weeks holidays and my final payslip matched. I had had less than 2 weeks off the entire year (can't have time off when the boss doesn't show up). I brought this up at the time with my then boss and they said the accountant would look into it. Well I've messaged him every month since then and still nothing, no payslips, no money nothing…its now 4months on.
Worst part is they're a relative and since I started working for them 6 years ago I've had pay issues (overtime not being paid, getting a pay rise that now “included my overtime” which meant I was paid $0.50ph under the legal required, never paid holiday loading. I didn't even know that was a thing until I started my new job).
I trusted this person I didn't worry about these things because they're family and would do the right thing but apparently only the right thing for them.
