So my workplace vacation policy is on an accrual system. And the pool of hours grows based on years worked. We work on 12 hour shifts and for a worker of 2-4 years you are to receive 10 days of vacation time, and the policy states 8 hours of vacation time is required for a day off. So 80 vacation hours a year accrued equals 10 days off. They changed the policy last October to be a mandatory 12 hours per vacation day but didn’t increase the accrual pool so now our 80 hours is only worth 6.67 days. I have to work 2 months to earn a day off. I’ve contacted the Plant Manager on the situation he said “the handbook will be changed to reflect the new policy” nothing has happened. The CEO himself came down for a Q&A with the “little people” and I asked him direct to his face about how the new stated policy directly contradicts the handbooks written policy. He told me he’d look into it and have the plant manager get back to me. It has been 6 months and nothing has changed. And I just felt like i needed to vent about it.
