I stumbled upon this subreddit and feel like this is somewhere I can share what's going on with my (absolutely god awful) manager:
I'm leaving town for the weekend at the end of this month and requested the time off about a MONTH AGO. At the time, my manager was trying to pressure me into working more hours that week, to which I told her that I have appointments that I cannot miss out on and I'll be leaving at 4am the morning of my trip, and so I have no way of even being at work. Since then, she has repeatedly said to me, “Are you sure you don't want to work more half days? You're going to fuck yourself if you don't.”
And it is so insulting. If I am REQUESTING days off for myself, why does she feel the need to act as though I'm unaware that I am not being paid for those days? Also, I really don't care enough about my job (not only are we treated like trash by management, my coworkers are some of the worst people I have had the misfortune of working with) enough to work more than I have to, and if I want to take 3 days off to take care of personal things and ENJOY MY TIME, why does she have the audacity to act like I'm being stupid?
I'm so over it. If it weren't for my needing money to literally exist, I would walk out the door right now.
I'm also preparing to take a week off in August and am already mentally prepping for the fight she's going to put up. It is not my fault my job is understaffed and my manager kills herself for a company that doesn't care. I am so tired.
