So I’m talking to a couple companies next week about signing on with them to learn software dev to get into the field without extra schooling, what I’m wondering is: what’s the general opinion from people who know these companies or have worked there and what questions I should ask (aside from salary expectations, work environment, more specifics on type of work, and where I would end up working). The companies are Revature and DevSlopes. They offer wildly different programs but both seem interesting.
Revature is looking to put me in a 13 week remote training program then would have me work for them for 2 years and send me wherever clients need me. They say they include relocation assistance but no further elaboration (I will ask when I talk to them).
DevSlopes, however is an (by their own admission) apprenticeship where I learn the necessary tools to become a freelance software developer. It’s an 8-16 month time commitment with 10-15hrs of work a week where they have you accept and work freelance contracts while you learn.
I’m overall wondering if anyone has any experience with these companies and/or similar companies that could be recommended as well. Also any advice on what to ask during the calls about what each offers would be appreciated!
