Texting and labor relations

Goodday to you all, I've been reading and commenting in this space for a while now, and one thing I've noticed, aside from the deplorable displays of disregard for basic labor laws, is that a lot of people here seem to prefer texting as means of communicating with their employers. I get that you will want to have stuff 'in writing', should shit go down, but I also see a lot of examples where I can't help but think “a simple phone call would have saved a lot of frustration and anger here”. How do you feel about that?
