The chain of resentment: why managers are so bitter.

I think the biggest issue in North American work places is that so few people who reach management positions want to better the work place. They all remember being treated like garbage at their earlier jobs and them giving a living wage and vacation to their employees would make them feel extremely resentful. Like a girl I work for, she never wanted me to take vacation as she wasn’t able to for months after she started because it was so busy. Even though whenever I asked, it wasn’t busy, she just wanted me to “suffer” like she did. Whenever I even spoke about vacation she instantly turned noticeably bitter. At this point she had been able to take multiple vacations. We need to stop being petty and resentful. It’s hard and I can’t even promise I would be perfect if I became a manager. It’s in human nature to I guess want other people to go through the same bullshit you did but at the end of the day it’s just cruel and unnecessary.

We really need to put our feelings aside and do better.
