To preface, no I’m not against work or entitled or refusing to work.
I’ve been out of work since July, when my fintech company realized it’s losing tons of money in the stock market and decided best recoup of losses was the staffs jobs.
Since then all I see (possibly because Reddit) is miserable wages paid and unrealistic tyrannical working conditions. Not a single employer wants to take care of their staff. Every job ad I see is gated behind a recruiter process, which feels like it was part of some control system plan.
Like suddenly you CANT apply for a job straight up. It’s almost ALL through recruiters. Recruiters that we have seen on here are barely competent but yet hold all the cards for my future.
I’m terrified to go back to work, I feel like if I ask for the salary I got laid off at, no one will even offer me a shot.
I’m 33 and have decent front end web experience, im by no means as qualified as I’d love to be but coding is vast and confusing, im trying my best, but feel like there are no good jobs for me anywhere.
Just venting, but I really am truly anxious about the idea of even jumping through hoops just to be denied. Idk.
Where does it end/get better?
