The reality of chronic illness in the US

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but I am super frustrated and discouraged right now. I’m 40 years old and have been working non-stop since I was 14. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Anyway, about 2.5 years ago something traumatic happened at work, and I have not been right mentally since. I no longer work there, but I’ve had to take FMLA to deal with mental health problems. I ran out of paid time off, and I have not been paid in over a month. It’s just crazy how someone can do everything “right” (no drugs, gambling, wastefulness), and still end up losing everything due to a health problem. I don’t have family I can fall back on. I’m very lucky that I was able to buy a house when I was doing better, but I’m at risk of losing it…

I’m very lucky that I was able to buy a house when I was doing better, but I’m at risk of losing it if my health doesn’t improve soon. It’s so scary- it’s very difficult to know what to do. Anyway, I’m sure I’m just one of thousands in this country with problems like this. Thanks for reading!
