I had a friend telling me that if I'm unhappy with the money I'm making that I should just go back to school and then get a better job after.
And I started thinking, “That's cool, but what about the rest of the people who can't do that?” and I realized that we are conditioned to be “better than X” that we are supposed to look down at the barista or grocery store stocker, and become some sort of professional.
The way I see it, if you bust your ass for 40 hours a week there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to afford the basic necessities of life and that anyone who says that you deserve to be poor and nearly destitute because you “didn't apply yourself” can shove it.
Now people have to work twice or three times as much to afford to survive.
How can we fix this? I've always said that there are no such things as World Problems. Only Human Problems with Human Solutions.
