So, I work for a tech company as an independent contractor. Even though I'm a contractor I'm expected to act like an employee but I don't get any benefits. This has been bothering me for a while. Even as a barista I had access to health insurance, 401k, stocks, and many other benefits. Sure, the pay wasn't great but with the amount of money I have to take out of my paycheck for taxes, it's really not too far off from what I was making. I'm expected to work X amount of hours a day but they haven't been assigning me enough work lately so I'm just like….🤷
Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do? Also, if you have any advice in general I'd appreciate it. I should also mention that my mental health is in the shitter right now. I'm feeling very depressed. The fact that everything is so expensive and we're all being exploited by greedy companies who don't want to pay us what we're worth.
