Thinking about quitting my independent contractor role

So, I work for a tech company as an independent contractor. Even though I'm a contractor I'm expected to act like an employee but I don't get any benefits. This has been bothering me for a while. Even as a barista I had access to health insurance, 401k, stocks, and many other benefits. Sure, the pay wasn't great but with the amount of money I have to take out of my paycheck for taxes, it's really not too far off from what I was making. I'm expected to work X amount of hours a day but they haven't been assigning me enough work lately so I'm just like….🤷 Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do?
