thinking about the world’s worst boss

was thinking about Elon's latest flap regarding his disabled employee and ended up posting this elsewhere: it's a known axiom by good managers that if 'community' or 'team spirit' exists in the group they manage, it's is only theirs to break. no amount of corporate rah rah can gin up genuine engagement in a project/process/company. people don't need tee shirts or happy hour (they may enjoy them, yes) but a good manager realizes an engaged employee needs to be retained by fair treatment, fair wages, recognition of contributions, and polite guidance when needed. the rest of the attempts to inculcate corporate culture, if those basics are not met, amounts to somewhat cruel mockery.
