I was just in a marketing/rebranding meeting for the company I work for, and in this meeting they asked us what our job meant to us. An overwhelming amount of coworkers had stories about how they love to spend time at work after hours, all their best friends are coworkers, and basically that their life revolves around their work here.
Now, I know this doesn't mean that I have to feel this way (and I definitely do NOT, they love to preach that this is the best place ever to work when we have a large amount of significant flaws) but the pressure from literally everyone else to have your life revolve around this business is just, insane. And honestly sad. I just wanted to know if anyone else works for a company where this “motto” is so significant that you're going to hear about it as apart of the entire brand of working there?? Because like I said, this is just beyond depressing to me. Find a real life outside of work. You may be surprised that you're actually happier. I leave work at 5pm everyday and don't think about it again till I'm back, and I don't come in after hours, I don't hangout with my coworkers like they're my best friends, and that isn't going to change, no matter how long I work here. I just don't think like that 🤷️
