This subreddit helped me argue my work life balance.

I just finished working my 90 probationary period and had to sit and justify my position yesterday. I was just hitting my 8 and hitting the gate and they were like there is a thing called work ethic. I was like there is also a thing called a work life balance and they put their tail between their legs. The boss tried to compare his work ethic of owning his own business and having to struggle to me just a peon. I had to remind him that you can’t compare apples to oranges. I told him you knew what you were getting into when you decided to run your own business. It’s a completely different lifestyle that comes with that territory, you chose those trade offs. That shut that conversation down. To make a long story short, I like my job, I like my boss, I can see myself here…

To make a long story short, I like my job, I like my boss, I can see myself here for the next few years. I still have a job and have lowered the bar of their expectations with logic.

Employers know we know our rights, or at least beginning to find our voices. Be polite, be kind, but stand firm. Also try to do a really good job so they can’t ding your performance.
