Thoughts on bosses who try to be friends?

I hate it. My boss is always trying to be buddy-buddy. It feels like an insidious form of manipulation. He’s totally useless at his job and lazy. I’ve had to tell him what to do. This buddy-buddy dynamic is a cover-up of an exploitative relationship. It’s gaslighting. He’s a lazy pos riding on the coattails of his employees. By trying to be friends he wants to get away with it. I want a boss who has an idea of what they’re doing. Just tell me what to do and I’ll do it. Don’t dress shit up, we’re not friends. You fundamentally have more power than me, we’re not equals. If shit hit the fan, you wouldn’t be my friend then. I recognise that not everybody will feel this way. What are your experiences?
