So I’ve had an interesting civilian career after getting out of the military. I started out working for a union contractor for about 2 years, eventually leaving for the local apprenticeship program. Worked as an apprentice for another 2 years or so. Unfortunately that didn’t work out, and I took a couple part time / lower key jobs outside of that industry until I could break back in ~a year and a half in total outside of the industry. About 8 months ago I got my old position back with my first employer. It got me thinking about how fickle this industry can be and when I went to dust off my resume I realized I have no idea how to explain my employment history. Am I better off eliminating those jobs and making it look like I’ve been working here the entire time? Is that something that HR will even follow up on? Just not sure if it’s better to appear stable in one career or show I’m capable of performing in vastly different roles.
