Timesheets being approved before shifts entered

So here is the situation. I put in my morning shift for Wed Nov 30. Went back on Thursday afternoon to enter Wednesday afternoon. Timesheet was locked as my manager has approved it already. Messaged HR, they answer at 730pm that payroll has already run. Asked if I worked or needed to put in a PTO request. I say worked, they put a thumbs up emoji. No other communication. Because of how payroll is it wouldn't effect me until my paycheck on the 21st. My supervisor is on vacation and doesn't really understand the system as I am his only “hourly” employee. Do I wait to see if they fix it or send an email now as HR is already aware? Advice on how to word it?
