You’ll tip a server and a food delivery driver, but you don’t tip your child’s school bus driver. Do you not value someone getting your child home safely? Delivering a human being seems a lot more important than some food that can replaced right?
This is a good example to help people see how ridiculous tipping culture has become. You expect your child’s bus driver to be paid by their employer, just like the majority of other jobs. Yet we have normalized the customer paying the wage for many jobs.
Most jobs where you get tips don’t provide health insurance so you’re stuck paying the ridiculous market premiums or risk a medical issue putting you in serious debt.
If you’re upset over not receiving a tip, you’re likely underpaid. If you were paid fairly, a tip would be an added bonus instead of an expectation.
