I’ve been sick with the flu. Had to miss four shifts because of it. First 3 were due to being too sick to go, and the last one was because I was at the doctor’s office all morning to figure out what was wrong.
I call my manager that day to let her know I won’t be coming in as I had been at the doctor and still felt utterly horrible. I thanked her for being patient with me and offered to pick up another shift later in the week, after I’d had time for the medicine they gave me to kick in. By this point I no longer had the flu, but I did have a nasty sinus+ear infection.
I was completely transparent about everything and she was willing to give me the day off provided I showed her the paperwork. I did. And then she said I would need a doctor’s note to excuse the next two days off.
Thing is… I was not scheduled for the next two days. I told her this, and then she said she would need a note proving I was not sick and could return back to work. She will not allow me to work any shifts until then.
I’ve had problems with this manager before. She constantly yells at and berates us employees. She constantly schedules me for doubles on days i explicitly say I cannot work. My availability even says I can’t work doubles. I’m not the only person she does this too.
Not only am I flat broke and unable to receive a paycheck next week like I was supposed to, but I also was forced to be on my feet for all of my “time off” trying to get CVS to work with me on getting me a note that reiterates that I don’t have the flu. And I’m honestly not going to be surprised if I get taken off the schedule.
