I'm getting fed up with my boss and other coworkers making fun or talking smack about someone because they couldn't come into work. One of the coworkers that called out was in the ER, and had the doctor's note to prove it. Another one had a family emergency. Whether or not it's true is none of your business. If they made up an excuse to stay out of work, it's probably to get away from all the crap that they get from the “company men” mentioned in the beginning.
These “company men” have come into work with messed up knees, covid positive with symptoms, or sick as a dog, because they're too proud and think the company relies on them. In a sense, they are relied on, as some of them have certain certifications that others don't have. But if someone chooses to stay at home because they're having a bad day, you don't get to make fun of them for that. You are the reason they don't like working.
Our turn over rate for technicians are horrible because they say they'll hire someone with no experience, and then these senior techs will give them a big job, with no help whatsoever and when they don't do it right, these new guys get yelled at or made fun of. How the hell do you expect people to stay working then?
Or in my case, where they keep adding more responsibilities and then get mad when the other stuff isn't getting done. Last week, my boss was talking smack and mentioning “demoting me”. The day he touches my paycheck is the day I'm outta there.
These people need to realize they're the reason we can't keep anyone here. Nobody likes to take responsibility around here, nobody can't accept when they make a mistake, nobody has a sense of humility. Oh and don't even think about calling them out because they're the golden goose of the dealership and you'll get told to calm down.
The only reason I don't quit right now is because I can take a vacation day in advance and no questions are asked. It seems taking last minute sick days that they don't like. And I live about 10 minutes away, and pay is decent.
