I've seen a lot of users saying they don't tip because it's not their fault the owners don't pay the staff adequate wages. One person said “i just dont tip.. changing the tipping standard one night out at a time.” This is laughable, because 95% of customers tip appropriately (=>15%). So your just the one in 20 customers that left a server disappointed and wondering what they could have done wrong to deserve being stiffed. Nothing positive comes from it.
Guarantee if tipping was removed the prices would increase more than 20% per item. Do you think these greedy managers you speak of are going to stop being greedy?
It just seems like suuuch a dumb approach, because the reality is that server you just stiffed does count on those tips, your not teaching anyone anything but the fact you are dense and stubbornly wrong.
Edit: to be clear my restaurant pays every tipped employee $16/hrs before tips.
